Guelph Police Weekend Report

Traffic stop leads to drug arrests

On October 12, 2015 at 11:46 p.m., a Guelph Police traffic stop with a motor vehicle on Sydenham Street led to the arrest of two males. A quantity of cocaine valued at over $1,000 as well as over $1,000 in cash and other drug paraphernalia was seized.

A 28-year-old Kitchener male has been charged possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of breach of probation. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on October 13, 2015.

Benjamin Macdonald, 26 years of Cambridge has been charged with possession of a controlled substance. He will appear in court on November 20, 2015.

Impaired driver arrested

On October 11, 2015 at 1:46 a.m., The Guelph Police received several complaints of a silver two door Acura being driven erratically in the area of the 401 and Highway 6 south of Guelph. Police attended to the area of Clair Road and Clairfields Drive East where the vehicle and driver were located. A traffic stop was conducted and police determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol and he was arrested.

Dipesh Pradhan, 34 years of Guelph has been charged with impaired driving and drive over 80mg. He will appear in court on October 23, 2015.

Speeder stopped – arrested for drive over 80mg

On October 12, 2015 at 12:30 p.m., the Guelph Police were conducting speed enforcement on Victoria Road North and stopped a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.

Arturo Pierce Zarate, 34 years of Guelph has been charged with drive over 80 mg. He was also charged with speeding under the Highway Traffic Act. He will appear in court on October 23, 2015.

Assault with a weapon – arrest

On October 10, 2015 at 10:00 p.m., the Guelph Police went to the Hanlon Convention Centre for a reported disturbance. Investigation alleges that two males that were known to each other became involved in a physical altercation when one of the males struck the other with a glass causing cuts to the victims face area. The responsible male then left the area.

On October 11, 2015 the male turned himself in to deal with charges.

Charanjit Grewal, 44 years of Puslinch has been charged with assault with a weapon and assault cause bodily harm. He will appear in court on December 1, 2015.

Break and enter – arrest

On October 12, 2015 the Guelph Police received the report of a break and enter to an Oxford Street residence. The residents had been away for the weekend when the incident occurred. Property damage and theft is reported. Police made an arrest when the responsible youths parents discovered what their son had done and reported the incident.

A 15-year-old Guelph male has been charged with break and enter, theft under $5,000 and mischief to property under $5,000. He will appear in court on November 25, 2015.

Break and enter’s

-On October 10, 2015 at 2:12 p.m., the Guelph Police received the report of a break and enter to a Water Street residence. The culprit(s) entered the open garage sometime overnight and stole a bicycle. The bike is a 2011 KHS Alite 500, 19 blk w white trim and touch of red highlight and pinstripe.
