Guelph Police Weekend Report

PSD General tracks suspect – arrest

On January 8, 2016 at 11:30 p.m. the Guelph Police went to a reported disturbance on Alice Street. It is alleged that a male involved in an altercation at the home had smashed a window and fled the area. Police Dog General attended and tracked the suspect, locating him half a kilometer away.

Tyler Mokren-Cox, 19 years of Guelph has been charged with mischief under $5,000. He will appear in court on March 4, 2016.

Break and enter

On January 8, 2016, the Guelph Police went to a Bristol Street residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered sometime over the Christmas break while the residence were away. A theft of a television and gaming system is reported.

Assault – arrest

On January 9, 2016 at approximately 10:30 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a York Road address to investigate an assault complaint. It is alleged that two roommates had a verbal argument that became physical when the female punched the male in the face cutting his lip. Police arrested the female at the scene.

Jennifer Linton, 33 years of Guelph has been charged with assault. She will appear in court on February 23, 2016.

Disturbance call leads to arrest

On January 10, 2016 at 12:35 a.m., the Guelph Police went to an Applewood Crescent home to investigate the report of a disturbance. Investigation lead to police discovering that the involved male was falsely identifying to police. After a brief struggle he was arrested. Further investigation found that the male was also breaching court imposed conditions. Police later received a complaint that this same male had assaulted another male prior to police receiving the disturbance call.

A 29-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with assault, obstruct police, resist arrest and three counts of breach of probation. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on January 11, 2016.

Police look for bike thief

On January 10, 2016 the Guelph Police went to Wilson Street near Gordon Street for the report of a male laying on the road. Investigation alleges that the man had been riding his bicycle when an unknown male tackled him off his bike. The unknown male then took the bike and was last seen riding westbound on Waterloo Avenue. The victim was taken to Guelph General Hospital to be checked medically.

The suspect male is described as white, long dirty blonde hair and a heavy build. He was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.

Break and enter

On January 11, 2016 at 6:00 a.m., the Guelph Police received the report of a break and enter at a Birmingham Street residence. The culprit(s) broke into a shed and stole a bicycle sometime overnight.

Theft from cars

Over the weekend the Guelph Police received four reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Barton Street, Waverly Drive, Emma Street and Ann Street.

This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible.
