Disturbance downtown – arrest
On January 24, 2016 at 12:30 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a Macdonell Street establishment to assist with a male that had been ejected and was still causing issues. Police took custody of the male who attempted to kick the officers. Neither of the officers were injured and the male was arrested.
Andrei Petr Dusome, 19 years of Markham has been charged with cause disturbance and assault police with intent to resist arrest. He will appear in court on March 8, 2016.
Impaired driver flees police, crashes, arrested
On January 24, 2016 at 3:00 a.m., the Guelph Police attempted to stop a motor vehicle in the area of Brentwood Avenue and June Avenue. As officers activated their emergency equipment the vehicle fled from police. A short distance later, police came upon the vehicle after it had crashed into a Rogers cable box and came to rest against a tree. A lone male was located and arrested. There were no injuries reported. As a result of the collision, there was severe damage to the Rogers box causing extensive cable destruction and signal loss for a number of residents in the area.
Jackson Sproat, 20 years of Guelph has been charged with impaired driving, flight from police and dangerous driving. He will appear in court on February 12, 2016.
Impaired driver arrested
On January 23, 2016 the Guelph Police received the report of a possible impaired driver. The vehicle and driver were located at 3:31 a.m. parked in a Wellington Street East parking lot. Police spoke to the male and determined that he had been drinking alcohol. Police also observed an open can of beer in the center console of the vehicle. A demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.
Kevin Foster, 53 years of Guelph has been charged with care and control over 80 mg. He was also charged under the Liquor Licence Act with having care and control of motor vehicle with open container of liquor. He will appear in court on February 9, 2016.
Break and enter
On January 22, 2016, the Guelph Police went to a Wilsonview Avenue apartment to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) cut the padlock off a storage unit to gain entry sometime over the last month. A theft is reported.

Suspicious male
The Guelph Police are investigating the report of a suspicious male following a youth. It is alleged that on January 18, 2016 at approximately 4:00 p.m., the youth was walking in the area of Exhibition Park. As the youth was walking in the Paisley Road and Yorkshire Street area an unknown male was seen following in behind. The male followed in behind for several blocks, at this point, the youth sought the help of an adult and the male left the area on foot.
The male is described as white, approximately 5’10”, medium build, scruffy face, wearing a khaki green coat, army style cargo pants, lumber jack boots and winter fur hat with ear flaps. The male was also carrying a back pack that appeared to be full.

Theft from cars
Over the weekend the Guelph Police received four reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Cardigan Street, Dufferin Street, Inverness Drive and College Avenue West.
This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible.
