Speed enforcement – Maltby Road
On Saturday July 16, 2016 between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., Guelph Police conducted speed monitoring on Maltby Road West (between Gordon Street and Highway #6). This area is a two lane residential road with bicycle lanes that are frequently occupied by cyclists. The speed limit on Maltby Road West is posted as being 60 km/h. During this time frame five motorists were charged with speeding offences. Their speeds ranged from 33km/h to 48km/h over the posted speed limit.
A sixth motorist was charged with speeding and stunt driving at the same location.
At 11:42 a.m. a black Dodge Ram pickup truck travelling westbound on Maltby Road approached the radar setup location at a high rate of speed. That speed was recorded at 111 km/h in the 60 km/h zone.
The 26-year-old male driver from Guelph has been charged with Speeding as well as Perform stunt – Exceed speed limit by 50 or more km/h. He will be appearing in the Guelph Provincial Offences Court in September. In addition to the charge, his licence was suspended for a period of 7 days. His motor vehicle was seized for the same 7 day period.
Guelph Police will continue to monitor this location.
Break and enter
On July 15, 2016, the Guelph Police went to a Gordon Street business to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered sometime overnight and stole approximately 32 aluminum rims and 6 car batteries.

Break and enter
On July 17, 2016, the Guelph Police went to a Woolwich Street church to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered sometime over the weekend. Damage was caused to doors and cabinetry.

Downtown arrest
On July 16, 2016 at 2:20 a.m., the Guelph Police were trying to deal with an intoxicated male downtown. A second male started to intervene with police and continued to get in the officers way. After several failed attempts by police to have this male back away from them, he was arrested.
Adham Emara, 20 years of Guelph has been charged with obstruct police. He will appear in court on August 30, 2016.
Shoplifters
On July 16, 2016 at 7:33 p.m., the Guelph Police went to the LCBO on Scottsdale for the report of two shoplifters. A male and female had entered the store, concealed three bottles of alcohol and left without paying. They then left the area in an older model Jeep Cherokee. Total value of the bottles stolen is approximately $355.
Suspects description:
1) White female, 5’4” tall, approx. 150 lbs., moderate build, mid-late 30’s, blonde shoulder length straight hair, wearing a white Nike bandana on top of head, purple sunglasses, grey tank top with a white tank top underneath, black leggings, carrying a black purse/shoulder bag, also wearing shower type sandals.
2) White male, short beard, long curly brown hair over the shoulders, wearing sunglasses, has a distinct tattoo sleeve on his right arm that goes down to his forearm, wearing a black t-shirt with a cross with a line depicted in the middle of is, wearing camouflage cargo shorts, thin build, approx. 5’8” tall, approx. 180 lbs., wearing black sock and tan skater shoes.
