Guelph Police Weekend Report

Investigation into two June B+E’s leads to charges

On June 2, 2016, a house on Ontario Street was broken into and several items, including computers, alcohol and cash were taken. On June 3, 2016 a house on Fountain Street was broken into where computers and a wallet were taken. As a result of the investigation that followed, police were able to identify the suspect for both burglaries.

On September 23, 2016 Philip Williams, a 30-year-old Guelph man, was arrested and charged with two counts of break and enter. He will appear in court on October 7, 2016.

Investigation into July B+E leads to charges

On July 26, 2016 the residents of a Walnut Drive address reported a break and enter. Several items including cash, clothing and jewelry were taken.

On September 23, 2016 a 15-year-old Guelph female was arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime. She will appear in court on November 2, 2016.

Pedestrian in serious condition after collision

On September 24, 2016 at approximately 12:05 p.m., the Guelph Police, Guelph Fire and GWEMS were called to the intersection of Speedvale Avenue West & Royal Road where it was reported that a pedestrian had been struck.

A 25-year-old male resident of Guelph had been struck by an Eastbound 2003 Ford Escape while trying to cross Northbound across Speedvale on the West side of the intersection. The male suffered serious injuries and was transported to Guelph General Hospital and then airlifted to Hamilton General Hospital where he remains in serious condition.

The intersection was shut down for several hours while Guelph Police continued to investigate. At this time no charges have been laid.

Six impaired driver’s arrested over weekend

-On September 23, 2016 at 10:01 p.m., the Guelph Police received the report of a possible impaired driver in the area of Gordon Street and Arkell Road. Police located the vehicle and its occupants attempting to change a flat tire. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.

Marc Dunlop, 22 years of Mississauga has been charged with drive over 80 mg. He was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with novice driver – BAC above zero. He will appear in court on October 11, 2016.

-On September 24, 2016 at 2:55 a.m., the Guelph Police observed a vehicle driving erratically on Victoria Road North. The vehicle pulled into a store parking lot and a traffic stop was conducted. Police spoke to the male driver, it was determined that he was impaired by alcohol and he was arrested.

Patrick McDermott, 30 years of Mount Forest has been charged with impaired driving and drive over 80 mg. He was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with novice driver – BAC above zero. He will appear in court on October 28, 2016.

-On September 25, 2016 at 1:07 a.m., the Guelph Police observed a vehicle driving erratically on Edinburgh Road South and conducted a traffic stop. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.

Joshua Mallett-White, 23 years of Brampton has been charged with drive over 80 mg. He was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with novice driver – BAC above zero. He will appear in court on October 14, 2016.

-On September 25, 2016 at 1:42 a.m., the Guelph Police observed a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed on Stone Road and conducted a traffic stop. Police spoke with the male driver, it was determined that he was impaired by alcohol and he was arrested.

Patrick Tanner, 19 years of Hamilton, has been charged with impaired driving and drive over 80 mg. He will appear in court on October 11, 2016.

-On September 25, 2016 at 3:20 a.m., the Guelph Police received the report of a possible impaired driver called in by an off duty Waterloo Regional Police officer. Guelph Police then observed the vehicle driving at a high rate of speed on Waterloo Avenue and conducted a traffic stop. Police spoke with the female driver, it was determined that she was impaired by alcohol and she was arrested.

Shelby Malloy, 24 years of Guelph, has been charged with impaired driving and drive over 80 mg. She was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with novice driver – BAC above zero. She will appear in court on October 21, 2016.

-On September 25, 2016 at 3:55 a.m., the Guelph Police received the report of a possible impaired driver coming into Guelph from the Kitchener area. Guelph Police located the vehicle on Victoria Road and conducted a traffic stop. Police spoke with the female driver, it was determined that she was impaired by alcohol and she was arrested.

Catherine Lauzon, 30 years of Guelph, has been charged with impaired driving and drive over 80 mg. She will appear in court on October 11, 2016.

Attempt break and enter’s reported

-On September 25, 2016 at 3:16 p.m., the Guelph Police went to an Ajax Street residence to investigate an attempt break and enter. The culprit(s) pulled off a screen leading to a large window. No entry was gained.

-On September 25, 2016, the Guelph Police went to a Brant Avenue residence to investigate an attempt break and enter that occurred between 2pm and 3pm. The resident was home sleeping when someone ripped the screen out of his bedroom window and attempted to get inside. When they realized the resident was home they fled the area.

-On September 24, 2016 at 9:44 p.m., the Guelph Police went to a Dublin Street North residence to investigate an attempt break and enter. Two males attempted to gain entry to the home through a living room window. The residents were home and chased them off.

Break and enter

On September 24, 2016 at 1:37 p.m., the Guelph Police went to a Delhi Street apartment building to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) damaged the front door and laundry room door to gain entry. A theft of change from the machines is reported.

Break and enter

On September 24, 2016 at 7:38 p.m., the Guelph Police went to a Conroy Crescent apartment building to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered the storage room and broke into a locker.

Break and enter

On September 23, 2016 at 11:48 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a Briarlea Road residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered the back yard shed and stole garden tools as well as a propane tank from their back deck.

Theft from cars

Over the weekend the Guelph Police received five reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Palermo Crescent, Ajax Street, Kendrick Avenue and two on Gordon Street.

This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible.
