On December 3, 2014, the Guelph Police responded to 70 Silvercreek Parkway North in regard to an unwanted person who was said to be acting in a bizarre fashion within one of the units in the complex.
Patrol officers located a 35-year-old male in the unit and noted that he had confined himself to a room on the upper floor. Due to the information provided by the complainant, the officers contained the male and attempted to make contact. They were not successful in making contact so the Tactics and Rescue Unit was deployed.
A perimeter was established and the male was contained within the unit as officers continued to attempt to communicate with the male.
At 4:40 p.m., the male responded to the officers and a brief negotiation took place, resulting in his surrender without incident.
The male, who was a visitor to the residence, was taken into custody and transported to the Guelph General Hospital for assessment.
The investigation is continuing as there was damage incurred within the unit. There were no injuries as a result of this incident.
