Guelph Police Daily News Release – November 06, 2015

On November 5, 2015 at 12:54 p.m., the Guelph Police received a complaint of a theft from a downtown business. It is alleged that two males took six pairs of jeans and left the store without paying for them.

One male is described as white, approximately 6’, dark hair and a dark goatee. He had tattoos on his neck and cuts on his arm. He was wearing a black windbreaker, dark jeans, blue short sleeved shirt, black running shoes and had a black and grey back pack.

The second male was white, approximately 5’9”, with dark hair. He was wearing a black ball cap with a red brim, black jacket and had a black knap sack.

Driving complaint leads to arrest

On November 5, 2015 at 6:11 p.m., an off duty Guelph Police officer called in to report a motorcycle being driven aggressively in the area of the Hanlon Expressway. Police located the bike a short time later on Wimbledon Road and conducted a traffic stop. Investigation discovered that the bike was not insured and had expired plates. It was further determined that the driver had a driving restriction to have an ignition interlock device on any motor vehicle he drives. This bike did not have one and he was arrested.

Christopher Luttmann, 24 years of Guelph has been charged with operate motor vehicle while prohibited under the Criminal Code. He was also charged with owner operate motor vehicle without insurance under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act and drive motor vehicle – no validation on plate under the Highway Traffic Act. He will appear in court on December 22, 2015.

Uber driver charged

On November 6, 2015 at 12:52 a.m., the Guelph Police received a complaint that a possible Uber vehicle picked up passengers on Woodlawn Road. Police located the vehicle with the passengers driving on Stone Road and a traffic stop was conducted. It was determined that the vehicle was being used to transport passengers for Uber. The driver was charged with pick up passengers for compensation without authority under the Highway Traffic Act.

Police called to house league hockey game

On November 5, 2015 at 7:51 p.m., the Guelph Police went to Centennial ice rink for the report of a disturbance. Investigation determined that two men became involved in a pushing match in the stands while watching a youth house league hockey game. It had calmed down when police arrived and both parties were sent on their way without further incident.
