Guelph Police Daily News Release – June 18

  1. Traffic stop leads to arrest

    On June 18, 2015 at 2:38 a.m., Guelph Police were in the Speedvale Avenue West area investigating an earlier attempt break and enter when a U-Haul van exited an apartment parking lot. A traffic stop was conducted. The male driver provided police with identification that was not his. Continued investigation led to his true identity and he was arrested. Subsequent to his arrest a search discovered a small quantity of Crystal Meth, multiple identifications belonging to other people and evidence that he had committed frauds.

    A 32-year-old Port Franks male has been charged with obstruct police, possession of stolen property, two counts of possession of identification, three counts of fraud and one count of possession of controlled substance (CDSA). He was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with drive under suspension. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on June 18, 2015.

    2. Attempt break and enter

    On June 18, 2015 at 1:48 a.m., the Guelph Police were called to a Speedvale Avenue apartment after the resident confronted a male trying to take the screen off the bedroom window. The male fled the area on foot, last seen west bound on Speedvale. Police searched the area but could not locate the male. He is described as white, 20’s, thin with blonde hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt, jeans and a baseball cap.

    3. Break and enter

    On June 17, 2015 at 4:03 p.m., the Guelph Police went to a Dufferin Street residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered sometime during the daytime stealing a wedding ring and prescription medication.
