On December 22, 2015 at 7:20 p.m., the Guelph Police went to Janefield Avenue for the report of a collision. It is alleged that a gray 2008 Pontiac driving south on Janefield near Torch Lane struck a parked black Chevrolet pickup truck. Damage to the Pontiac was severe, however the driver escaped without injury. Damage to the unoccupied Chevrolet was moderate. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.
Andrew Bates, 28 years of Guelph has been charged with impaired driving and drive over 80 mg. He will appear in court on January 5, 2015.

Break and enter
On December 22, 2015 at 7:42 p.m., the Guelph Police received the report of a break and enter at a Bristol Street residence. The culprit(s) entered sometime after 5:00 p.m. and stole a purse.

Traffic stop – arrest
On December 22, 2015 at 4:02 p.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle on Victoria Road South. Investigation discovered that the plates on the vehicle were not registered to it and also that the male driver only had a G1 licence while the passenger was unlicenced. Further investigation determined that the plates were actually stolen and the driver was arrested.
Kyle Huestis, 24 years of Guelph has been charged with possession of stolen property under $5,000. He was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with use plates unauthorized for vehicle and G1 driver unaccompanied. He will appear in court on January 5, 2015
Theft from cars
On December 22, 2015 the Guelph Police received two reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Wyndham Street and Hill Trail.
This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible.
