On May 28th, 2017 at 2:34am police responded to Flaherty Drive in response to 4 suspects believed to be stealing from cars.
When police arrived the four suspects fled on foot. K-9 General attended and tracked one of the suspects for 700 meters and located him hiding in a bushed area. A 15 year old Guelph youth was arrested and later released unconditionally when he was not found with any stolen property.

Windows smashed and man arrested
Late in the evening on May 28th, a Paisley Road address had two of its window smashed out and the suspect was recorded on video. Damage was estimated at $700.00. Police were called to investigate and were able to identify the suspect as a resident from the building.
Later in the evening police arrested Richard Simard, a 35 year old Guelph man and charged him with mischief under $5000. He was later released to appear in court on July 14, 2017.
Break and enter
Between 7pm and 9:25pm on May 27th two unidentified persons broke into a Teal Drive home by breaking a rear window. The two were recorded by home video first ringing the front door before entering the house. At the time of this report is unknown what property was taken from inside and police continue to investigate.

Police want to remind people that it is common tactic for thieves to knock on doors to see if anyone is home before they break into your home. If you have any interaction with people knocking at your house asking for people that don’t live there, looking for directions or other unusual requests at your home, please call police with a detailed description to investigate.
Impaired driving arrest
At approximately 5:15pm on May 27th police were investigating a driving complaint involving a black Mazda Tribute in the area of the Stone Road Mall. The vehicle was located in the parking lot area there and officers observed the female driver’s ability to operate her motor vehicle was impaired. She was arrested for having care and control of her vehicle while her ability was impaired by drugs. Additional testing at the station confirmed this belief. The female was also found in possession of a number of prescription medications.
Sherri Lawrence, a 49 year old resident of Campbellville was later released to appear before the court on July 11, 2017.
Traffic enforcement
On the afternoon of May 26th, a GPS Traffic Officer stopped a 2012 Chevrolet on Watson Parkway travelling 108 km/hr in a posted 50km/hr zone. The 21 year old Guelph man was charged with speeding and stunt driving and also had his vehicle impounded.
Over the weekend police stopped 125 vehicles and charged 86 drivers with Provincial Offence driving-related charges.

Over the weekend the Guelph Police Service responded to 717 calls for service.
