Guelph Police Daily News Release – 29Jan2016

On January 28, 2016 at approximately 11:54 a.m., members of the Guelph Police Drug Unit were in the area of Waterloo Avenue and Beechwood Avenue and observed two males meet and conduct what was believed to be a drug transaction. One of the males was known to police to have outstanding arrest warrants. Police subsequently arrested both males and found a quantity of Heroin and Crack Cocaine as well as $1,270. Further investigation revealed that the second male also had an outstanding arrest warrant.

A 47-year-old Guelph male has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance, two counts of breach of probation, two counts of breach of an undertaking to a Justice or Judge, and two counts of theft under 5,000. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on January 29, 2016.

A 40-year-old Guelph male has been charged with unlawfully being at large and breach of probation. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on January 29, 2016.

Break and enter

On January 28, 2016 at 7:39 p.m., the Guelph Police went to a Sunset Road residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered sometime during the day through an unlocked front window. A theft of two IPODS is reported.

Theft from cars

On January 26, 2016 the Guelph Police received four reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Elmira Road North and three on Speedvale Avenue West.

This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible.
