Just before 2am today, a Huron Street resident was awoken by man who he did not know that was yelling and screaming in his driveway. The resident went out to speak to the yelling man and was assaulted by him.
The male suspect was still there when police arrived and arrested 32 year-old Jonathon Neil of Kitchener for assault. He was released to appear before the court in March.
Vehicle Collisions
Police responded to eight collisions over the course of the day on January 26th that fortunately did not result in any injuries. There were Highway Traffic Act charges laid in four of the collisions.
– In one the collisions, a large full-sized red pickup truck went up over the curb attempting to turn onto Maplewood Drive and struck a mailbox. The truck then left the scene with damage to the front driver’s side of the vehicle. Police are trying to locate this full-sized red pick-up.

Thefts from vehicles
On January 26th, there were six cars that were reported entered on Burton Road, Robin Road, Law Drive, Dimson Avenue and Silurian Drive. Money, gift cards and personal papers and electronics were taken.
In another incident at a south-end dog park, while the owner walked her dog, she returned to her vehicle with its window smashed out. A purse, wallet, phone and camera were taken.
The importance of locking your vehicles is always the primary way to protect your belongings. That measure should go hand in hand with ensuring that your valuables are also kept out of sight. Thefts from vehicles are a crime of opportunity. Do everything you can do reduce that opportunity.
