Guelph Police Daily News Release – 26April2016

On April 25, 2016 at 7:57 a.m., the Guelph Police received a call about a male on Eastview who had attempted to steal a bike but was scared off when he was seen. Police located a male matching the description and pulled up next to him. The male ran from police and a short pursuit led to his arrest on Mountford Drive. A search subsequent to his arrest discovered tools consistent with being break in instruments.

Darryl O’Brien, 36 years of Guelph has been charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of break in instruments. He will appear in court on April 26, 2016.

– On April 25, 2016 at 3:22 p.m., the Guelph Police went to a house on Wyndham Street after receiving the complaint that someone was in it and it was supposed to be empty. Police located a male just outside the residence. The investigation determined that the male had been in the house and that he was in possession of two knives, one of which was a prohibited weapon.

A 24-year-old Guelph man has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and breach of probation. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on April 26, 2016.

Traffic stop leads to arrests

On April 25, 2016 at 4:37 a.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle on Southgate Drive. Investigation found that the plates on the vehicle were not authorized for it. Police also observed a crack pipe in the vehicle leading to both occupants being arrested. A subsequent search discovered tools consistent with being break in instruments as well as scrap copper in the trunk.

Dennis Hepburn, 24 years of Guelph has been charged with possession of break in instruments and possession of property obtained by crime. He was also charged with drive under suspension and use plate not authorized for vehicle under the Highway Traffic Act and owner operate motor vehicle – no insurance under the Compulsory automobile Insurance Act. He will appear in court on June 7, 2016.

Branden Reed, 24 years of Guelph has been charged with possession of break in instruments, possession of property obtained by crime and breach of probation. He will appear in court on June 7, 2016.

Attempt break and enter

On April 25, 2016 at 7:17 p.m., the Guelph Police went to an Imperial Road North residence to investigate an attempt break and enter. The male was attempting to get in through a basement window when a resident of the home confronted him. The male fled the area on foot. A search of the area by police did not locate the man. He is described as being tanned, 40-50 years and wearing all black.

Break and enter

On April 26, 2016 at 3:22 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a Westgate Drive residence to investigate an attempt break and enter. Someone was trying to gain entry to the side door. Damage was caused to the door but no entry was gained and the culprit(s) left prior to police arrival.

Theft from clothing donation bin – arrests

On April 23, 2016 the Guelph Police went to the Speedvale Avenue East plaza for the report of two people taking articles from the donation bin. A male and female were located and identified but no arrest was made. Police continued the investigation and discovered that they had stolen clothing from the bin. On April 25, 2016 they were arrested.

Noella Menard, 35 years of Guelph has been charged with theft under $5,000. She will appear in court on April 29, 2016.

Thomas Milson, 59 years of Guelph has been charged with theft under $5,000. He will appear in court on June 3, 2016.

Police incidents from the last 24 hours

The Guelph Police were involved in 176 incidents in this time frame. Incidents involve everything from traffic stops and accidental 911 calls to domestics and break and enters.
