Guelph Police Daily News Release – 23Mar2017

In February of 2017, members of the Guelph Police Service Drug Unit entered into an investigation surrounding the trafficking of crack cocaine in the city of Guelph. Surveillance was conducted and a male was observed bringing drugs into Guelph and meeting several known drug users. A search warrant was sought for a Woolwich Street residence and was executed on March 22nd 2017. Four people were arrested and police seized crack cocaine, marihuana, nabilone, cash, and ammunition for a firearm.

A 21 year old Brampton man was arrested and faces possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of controlled substance, and breach of weapon prohibition order charges

A second Brampton man, 18 years of age was arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of controlled substance.

Courtney Gibson, 27 years of age from Guelph was arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of controlled substance. She was released to appear before the court at a later date.

A Brampton youth was arrested on the strength of a fail to attend warrant from the Region of Peel.

Both men were held for a bail hearing on March 24, 2017 and the youth was released to Peel Regional Police.

Break and enter suspects arrested

On March 8, 2017 video cameras recorded three people that broke in to a Neeve Street building and went through vehicles in the parking garage where property was stolen from many vehicles. The three were later identified by police and on the morning of March 22nd, one of those people, a 20 year old Guelph woman, was located on Norwich Street and arrested. She is charged with break and enter and breach of probation and was held in custody to appear in bail court.

Later that same morning one of the other involved persons became aware that police were looking for her and came to the police station to turn herself in. Rachel Kelly, 18 years of age from Guelph was charged with break and enter and was later released to appear in court on April 4, 2017.

Police are actively trying to locate the third person from this incident.

Disturbance leads to arrest

Just before 6am this morning, police responded to a disturbance between two men at a Gordon Street establishment. Investigation revealed that one of the men had been trying to instigate a fight when he brandished a screw driver and threatened the other male.

A 33 year old Guelph man was arrested and charged with uttering threats and carrying a weapon dangerous to the public peace. He was held in custody and will appear in bail court today.

Break and enter related arrest

Early on the morning of March 22nd, police attended to take a report of a break-in at a Yorkshire Street address and received some information regarding a possible suspect. Police then went to a Northumberland address to interview that suspect who was found with a person that he had been ordered by the court not have any contact with.

The 22 year old Guelph man was arrested for breach of recognizance and held in custody for a bail hearing.
