We hope that everyone enjoyed their Family Day long weekend. It was pretty awesome that unseasonably warm temperatures and an abundance of sunny weather decided to make an appearance for us all to enjoy the weekend.

Robbery investigation needs your help

Police are investigating an attempt robbery which occurred at approximately 10pm on Friday February 17th on Imperial Rd. N in the area of Westwood Rd. A female was walking her dog on Imperial Rd. when she was approached by an unknown male suspect wearing dark clothing. The male suspect asked the female for money and when she refused to give any, the suspect struck the female across the face before he fled on foot running S/B on Imperial Rd. towards Westwood Rd.

According to the victim there was a male and female walking S/B on the east side of Imperial Rd. by Sugarbush Place that may have witnessed the suspect fleeing the area. The suspect is described as M/W, late teens to early 20’s, about 5’9”, thin build, blonde hair and blue eyes, wearing a black hoodie with a red inside liner and black track pants.

Police would like to speak to this couple or any witnesses that may have information in regards to this incident. Anyone who may have information regarding this incident can contact Cst. Fraud suspect identified

In January 2017, Guelph Police entered into an investigation regarding cheques that had been stolen from a vehicle and then were being forged and cashed in amounts ranging from $300 – $800 each. Officers were able to identify a suspect and on February 19, 2017, that 22 year old woman was located and arrested. Abigail Turner of Guelph is charged with four counts of Fraud Under $5000 and of Uttering Forged Documents. She was released to appear before the court on March 31, 2017.

Over the course of the weekend, the Guelph Police Service responded to 505 calls for service.
