Cst. MacArthur and PSD General
On October 20, 2016 at 4:30 a.m. a Cambridge home owner confronted a male who had broken into his residence. The male fled on foot prior to police arrival. Guelph Police canine General was requested to assist in tracking the suspect. Facing a 25 minute delay the k9 team tracked the suspect for over 1km and located him hiding in a shed. Through investigation police were able to link the suspect to two other break and enters that occurred earlier in the area.
An 18-year-old Cambridge man has been charged with three counts of break and enter. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing on October 20, 2016.
That makes three arrests in 73 hours as a result of a track by Cst. MacArthur and his partner General.
Man enters home – arrested
On October 20, 2016 at 2:45 a.m., the Guelph Police went to the Cardigan Street area after a resident found a male in his home. The male quickly left the home but police located him a short distance away and he was arrested. A subsequent search discovered a switch blade type knife.
A 25-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with unlawfully in a dwelling, possession of a prohibited weapon and breach of probation. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on October 20, 2016.
Collision leads to drive over 80mg arrest
On October 19, 2016 at 11:41 p.m., the Guelph Police received the report of a collision on Dovercliffe Road. Police spoke with the male driver of one of the involved vehicles and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested. Police later learned that a female passenger in the vehicle had sustained a broken arm in the crash.
James Bromley, 19 years of Puslinch has been charged with drive over 80 mg and drive over 80mg cause bodily harm. He will appear in court on January 16, 2015.
Break and enter
On October 19, 2016, the Guelph Police went to a Rickson Avenue residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered the home sometime between Oct 14 and 19. A basement window was broken to gain entry. No theft is reported.

Theft from cars
On October 19, 2016 the Guelph Police received three reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Mercer Street, Marksam Road and Cardigan Street.
This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible. Vehicle flips onto roof on Scottsdale Drive
On October 19, 2016 at 8:58 a.m., the Guelph Police went to Scottsdale Drive near Wilsonview Avenue for a reported collision. A vehicle driving on Scottsdale struck a parked construction trailer causing the vehicle to flip over onto its roof. No injuries were reported by the female driver. Scottsdale was closed until 10:26 a.m., while the collision was investigated and cleaned up.

The Guelph Police were involved in 218 incidents in this time frame. Incidents involve everything from traffic stops and accidental 911 calls to domestics and break and enters.
