Assault – arrest
On May 17, 2016 at 6:00 p.m., the Guelph Police went to a Plymouth court residence for an assault complaint. It is alleged that two males that were known to each other became involved in a verbal argument. One of the males then punched the other in the face. The victim walked away from the altercation and called police. The male was arrested at 6:20 p.m.
Cory O’Connell, 35 years of Guelph has been charged with assault. He will appear in court on June 24, 2016.
Theft from cars
On May 17, 2016 the Guelph Police received three reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Deleware Avenue, Wyndham Street South and Willow Road.
This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible. Canada road safety week
Canada Road Safety Week started May 17 and ends at midnight on May 23, 2016. It is an enforcement-driven initiative designed to increase public compliance with safe driving measures and ultimately, to save lives. This week has been strategically chosen, as it includes the first summer” long weekend. More people are traveling and traffic collisions are more frequent. Police vehicles will be stationed at key locations and will be highly visible to remind people that safe driving habits will save lives and will reduce injuries on our roadways.
Targeted enforcement activities will be conducted in the areas of impaired driving
