Guelph Police Daily News Release – 17Feb2016

On February 16, 2016 at 10:34 p.m., the Guelph Police went to a Carden Street apartment to assist a male in medical distress that was possibly armed with an edged weapon. The Tactics and Rescue Unit was utilized and at 11:52 p.m. the male was safely apprehended.

Property damage

On February 16, 2016 the Guelph Police went to a business on Industrial Street for the report of property damage. The culprit(s) damaged the business sign with rocks.

Drive over 80 mg – arrest

On February 17, 2016 at 1:53 a.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle on College Avenue near Edinburgh Road. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.

Murray Mcteer, 37 years of Guelph has been charged with drive over 80 mg. He will appear in court on March 4, 2016.

The Guelph Police were involved in 208 incidents in the past 24 hours. Incidents involve everything from traffic stops and accidental 911 calls to domestics and break and enters.

Cox creek cellars hosts the first Muddy Grape Endurance Challenge in support of Special Olympics Ontario 2016 games.

On Saturday May 7, 2016 Cox Creek Cellars will serve as the backdrop to Guelph’s first annual Muddy Grape Endurance Run! All new for 2016, The Muddy Grape will set the stage as Guelph’s premier endurance run as participants take on an obstacle course designed to challenge participants of all fitness levels all in support of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Ontario.

Influenced by vintage military training courses, The Muddy Grape will feature multiple obstacles that will test each participant’s physical strength, mental toughness and will power all while having fun for a great cause! The Muddy Grape will offer a ‘competitive/timed’ category to satisfy those with a competitive edge and who want to see how their time stacks up against rest an a ‘just for fun’ category for participants who want to take on each obstacle at their own pace and see what The Muddy Grape is all about!

The Muddy Grape chairperson Carrie Gouthro, Correctional Service Canada, is looking forward to hosting such a great event that showcases the natural scenery of Cox Creek Cellars all while raising money for such a great cause. The Muddy Grape proudly supports the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Ontario with all funds directed to the 2016 Provincial Spring Games in Guelph.

The event also includes a post-race celebration with live entertainment and plenty of great vendors to refuel with.
