On November 16, 2016 at 1:44 a.m., the Guelph Police observed a man walking and pushing a bicycle on Woodlawn Road West. As police approached, the male dropped the bike and started to run. He was stopped and investigation discovered that he was breaching a probation condition and he was arrested. A subsequent search found tools consistent with use in break and enters and bike thefts. At this time the owner of the bicycle is not known as it was not found in the Guelph Police stolen bike reports.
The 20-year-old Guelph man has been charged with breach of probation and possession of break in tools. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on November 16, 2016.
Anyone who may have information about the bike is asked to contact Cst A. McArthur at 519-824-1212 at extension #7105. The bike would likely have been stolen recently and is white and blue in colour.
Stolen vehicle recovered
On November 14, 2016 at 6:00 a.m., the Guelph Police received the report of a stolen silver 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 taken from Glenholm Drive. On November 15, 2016 the O.P.P. located the vehicle in Ennotville.
Fraud arrest – update
On November 12, 2016 the Guelph Police became involved in a fraud investigation. A Guelph man had lost his Visa card sometime overnight and was now seeing use of the card on his account. He saw where the most recent use was and attended to this location on Silvercreek Parkway North. He spoke with the store employees who gave him a description of the man that made the purchase. He then located the man in the area and called police. Police arrived shortly after and arrested the man. A subsequent search discovered cheques that had been reported stolen on November 9, 2016 and a prohibited knife. Investigation found that a second male was also involved. That second male was arrested on November 15, 2016. A subsequent search discovered identity documents on him, one of which had been reported stolen from a car overnight.
The 33-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with three counts of use stolen credit card, four counts of breach of probation, three counts of possession of stolen property and two counts of possession of identity documents. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on November 16, 2016.
On November 12, Tyler Curzon-Watt, 25 years of Guelph was charged with possession of stolen property, carry a concealed weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon, use stolen credit card, three counts of breach of probation and two counts of breach weapon prohibition. He will appear in court on November 24, 2016.
Theft from cars
On November 15, 2016 the Guelph Police received two reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Speedvale Avenue West and Scottsdale Drive.
This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible. November 15, 2016 from 8:25 a.m. to 10:02 a.m. on Victoria Road South – 9 speeding tickets issued, 5 other HTA/CAIA offence tickets issued.
Stolen truck
On November 16, 2016 at 8:00 a.m., the Guelph Police received the report of a Grey GMC SIE LIC# BW1810 – stolen from the parking lot at Delta Hotel sometime overnight.
