On September 15, 2016 at 1:14 a.m., a Guelph Police officer observed three vehicles driving on Wellington Street near Gordon Street. One vehicle did not have running lights and was followed by two pickup trucks with trailers. The officer attempted to stop the vehicles but they accelerated their speed. The lead vehicle did come to a stop after pulling onto Bristol Street but the other trucks continued on Wellington Street. The attempt to stop those trucks was quickly called off for safety reasons. Investigation discovered that the two vehicles and trailers that fled from police had been stolen at a break and enter on Dawson Road. One of the trailers contained a substantial amount of lawn and garden equipment. The male driver of the vehicle that was stopped was found to be a disqualified driver and he was arrested. It was later learned that this vehicle had been stolen from Brampton.
At 3:40 a.m., one of the trucks with trailer that had fled from police was located on Holiday Street near Bristol Street. It was still running but the occupant(s) were gone.
At 4:40 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a Preston Street home for the report that the resident found a male hiding in his attic. Police arrested the man without incident. A search subsequent to his arrest discovered a small quantity of marihuana. Investigation alleges that he was also involved with the break and enter at Dawson Road.
A 54-year-old Brampton man has been charged with three counts of driving while disqualified, break and enter, theft of motor vehicle and possession of stolen property. He was also charged under the Highway traffic Act with two counts of driving while suspended. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on September 15, 2016.

Break and enter
On September 14, 2016 at 12:50 p.m., the Guelph Police went to an Arbordale Walk residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered the home and stole cash.
