Guelph Police Daily News Release – 15April2016

Break and enter

On April 14, 2016 at 8:14 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a Woodlawn Road West business to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) gained entry sometime overnight but it appears an audible alarm prevented a theft from occurring.

On April 14, 2016 at 8:22 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a Rhonda Road residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered the garage sometime overnight and stole property from the vehicle inside.

On April 14, 2016 at 9:55 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a Stephanie Drive residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered the garage sometime between 5:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. and stole property from the vehicles inside.

Break and enter

On April 14, 2016 at 1:36 p.m., the Guelph Police went to a Queen Street residence to investigate a break and enter. Three males were seen leaving the home and jumping over a fence heading onto Eramosa Road. The home was found to have been ransacked. They were described as white, in their early twenties with shaved heads and baggy clothing. They had bandanas over their faces and one was carrying a blue or purple suitcase. The area was checked but no arrests were made. The investigation is ongoing.

Road closed for construction Victoria/Elizabeth – charge laid

On April 14, 2016 at 1:00 p.m., the Guelph Police were flagged down by a worker advising that a transport truck had just driven through the closed intersection causing damage in the construction area. Police located the truck and driver and a traffic stop was conducted. The male driver was charged with careless driving and fail to remain under the Highway Traffic Act.

In the area of Wellington Street West from 10:20 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. 8 tickets issued.

In the area of Edinburgh Road and Dean Avenue 6:50 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. 8 tickets issued.

Theft from cars

On April 14, 2016 the Guelph Police received two reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Wimbledon Road and Lynch Circle.

This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible.
