Guelph Police Daily News Release – 11April2016

Break and enter

On April 8, 2016, the Guelph Police went to a College Avenue West building to investigate a break and enter. The laundry room had been entered, washing machines damaged and a theft of approximately $100 in change is reported. One resident reported to police that they had seen an unknown lone male in that room at approximately 3:00 a.m. He is described as white, pale complexion, 25-30yrs, 5’6”-5’7”, short dark hair, with no facial hair. He was wearing dark pants, running shoes, a black jacket with a (lime) green t-shirt. He also had a very noticeable bruise under his left eye as if he’d been punched and smelled strongly of cigarette smoke.

Break and enter

On April 9, 2016, the Guelph Police went to a Carnaby Crescent residence to investigate a break and enter. Sometime between April 4 and April 9, the culprit(s) entered the garage and stole a Trek 3500 road racing bike.

Break and enter

On April 9, 2016 at 4:48 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a Michener Road business to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) set off an alarm when they gained entry, no theft is reported.

Male brandishes knife – arrested

On April 8, 2016 at 8:50 a.m., the Guelph Police went to an establishment on Gordon Street to investigate a disturbance. It is alleged that a male had been advised by staff that due to his aggressive actions, they would not be further assisting him. He then threatened them and brandished a small knife. Police were called, the male was located and arrested.

Leo Belmore, 29 years of Guelph has been charged with utter threats, weapons dangerous and breach of probation. He will appear in court on April 11, 2016.

Theft from cars

Over the weekend the Guelph Police received eight reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Heffernan Street, Algonquin Avenue, Speedvale Avenue East, Troy Crescent, Delaware Avenue, Hasler Crescent, Dakota Drive and Lambert Crescent.

This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible. Road safety enforcement between April 8 and 10

In the closed road area of Victoria Road and Elizabeth Street randomly over the three days 13 tickets issued for disobey sign.

Police incidents from April 9 to April 11 at 8:00 a.m.

The Guelph Police were involved in 340 incidents in this time frame. Incidents involve everything from traffic stops and accidental 911 calls to domestics and break and enters.
