On August 9, 2017 at 9:50am Guelph police were called to a Janefield Avenue address, where there was a report of a disturbance. Police determined that there had been a fight between two males that ended when one male allegedly struck the other in the head with an object. The victim in this incident was taken to Guelph General Hospital by ambulance and subsequently released with minor injuries.
A 23 year old Guelph male was charged with assault with a weapon and breach of probation. He was held for a bail hearing.
Assault
On August 9, 2017 at 12:35pm a female was walking in the area of Gordon / Wellington. A male, not known to her, allegedly approached her, had a brief conversation and then assaulted her. The victim did not require any medical attention as a result of the assault.
A 64 year old Guelph male was charged with assault. He was held for a bail hearing.
Disturbance
On August 9, 2017 at 8:57pm Guelph police were called to an Applewood Crescent address, where there was a report of a large brawl. Multiple police vehicles were dispatched to investigate. Involved parties were separated without incident. There were no complaints of assaults or no injuries. A 29 year old female was charged under the Liquor Licence Act.
Cyclist Struck
On August 9, 2017 at 7:15pm, Guelph police were called to the intersection of Silvercreek and Willow, where there was a report that a cyclist had been struck. Police determined a vehicle was making a left turn, obeying a displayed left arrow and it is alleged that a cyclist was riding his bicycle through the crosswalk at that time. As a result of the investigation, a 30 year old Guelph male was charged with cyclist riding through crosswalk under the Highway Traffic Act. There were no injuries in this collision and there was minimal damage.
Damage to Vehicles
Guelph Police are investigating a series of incidents involving damage to vehicles. At some time between the evening of Monday, August 7, 2017 and the morning of Tuesday, August 8, 2017, culprit(s) were in the area of Elmira between Paisley and Freshmeadow and damaged several cars that were in driveways. Specifically, vehicles were scratched along one or both sides with a sharp object. In total, eleven vehicles have been scratched, resulting in an approimxate damage value of $4000.
