On March 9, 2016 at 1:00 a.m., the Guelph Police observed a black Lexus and a white BMW turn north off Stone Road onto the Hanlon Parkway and accelerate to a very high rate of speed, driving side by side. Police lost sight of the vehicles as they crossed over College Avenue but located them as they made a U-turn at Woodlawn Road West and headed south on the Hanlon Parkway. The black Lexus began fishtailing before straightening itself out as both vehicles accelerated quickly. Police were able to conduct a traffic stop on both vehicles in the southbound lanes of the Hanlon Parkway just south of the Wellington Street overpass. The Lexus was being driven by a 20-year-old male from Stouffville and was carrying three passengers. The BMW was being driven by a 21-year-old male from Burlington and was carrying four passengers. Both drivers were charged under the Highway Traffic act for Stunt Driving-Racing. Their drivers’ licences were seized for 7 days and the motor vehicles were impounded for 7 days.
Two vehicle collision
On March 8, 2016 at 2:39 p.m., the Guelph Police went to Elmira Road North for a two car collision. It is alleged that a black Lincoln LLS four door travelling north on Elmira Road struck a brown Toyota Corolla that was turning into a private driveway on Elmira Road.
Both drivers were transported to Guelph General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Damage to the two vehicles is estimated at $16,000.
The driver of the Toyota, an 87-year-old Guelph female, has been charged with turn not in safety contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Pedestrian struck
On March 8, 2016 the Guelph Police Traffic Unit began an investigation into a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle that failed to remain at the scene. At approximately 9:00 a.m. a female pedestrian was walking south on Yorkshire Street on the west sidewalk when she was struck by a smaller newer style white vehicle travelling west on Suffolk Street. The driver spoke briefly to the pedestrian and then left the scene. The pedestrian suffered minor injuries.
The investigation is ongoing. Police would like to speak to the driver of the white vehicle.

Break and enter
On March 8, 2016 at 7:40 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a College Avenue West residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered the garage sometime overnight and stole a mountain bike.

Multiple garage, shed and vehicle entries
On March 8, 2016, the Guelph Police received twelve reports from the same geographical area of Guelph, that garages, sheds and cars had been entered. Six from Echo Drive, four from Forest Street and two on Bellevue Street. In most of the incidents, no theft is reported.
