Guelph Police Daily News Release – 09Aug2016

On August 8, 2016 Guelph Police were notified of a pedestrian involved motor vehicle collision that had occurred on Saturday August 6, 2016 at the intersection of Metcalfe Street and Eramosa Road. At approximately 3:15 p.m. the pedestrian was crossing Metcalfe on a walk signal within the defined crosswalk. A south bound motorist made a left turn and struck the pedestrian within the crosswalk. The pedestrian was slightly injured but walked off the road on her own. The motorist failed to stop and continued along Metcalfe Street.

The vehicle is described as a gold or light beige smaller vehicle and the driver is described as a white, elderly female wearing glasses.

Theft

On August 8, 2016 at 7:30 a.m., the Guelph Police went to the Hawkins Drive/Clair Road area for the report of a theft. Sometime over the weekend, bucket and hammer attachments for a CAT skid steer were stolen. They are valued at approximately $15,000.

Theft from cars

On August 8, 2016 the Guelph Police received four reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Parkholm Avenue, London Road West, Woodlawn Road West and Home Street.

This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible. In the area of Eramosa Road and Speedvale Avenue from 5:45 a.m. to 7 a.m. – 4 tickets issued

In the area of Speedvale Avenue at Knightswood Boulevard from 9:15 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. – 9 tickets issued.

In the area of Watson Parkway North from 10:20 a.m. – 11:35 a.m. – 3 tickets issued.

In the area of Victoria Road North at Greenview Street from 11:05 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – 3 tickets issued.
