Concern bar staff call police about impaired driver
Shortly after 1am this morning, staff of a Scottsdale Road establishment alerted police to an intoxicated male who was seen to enter a car and drive away. Initially when police responded to the bar, the male and his vehicle could not be located. That same vehicle returned to the parking lot area and at that time, police spoke with the male driver. As a result of that interaction with the driver, he was arrested for having care and control of a motor vehicle while he was ability was impaired by alcohol.
He was transported to the station and provided two samples of his breath that were found to be above the legal limit and he was further charged with operate a motor vehicle above 80mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood. As the law requires, his vehicle was also impounded for seven days and his driver licence was suspended for 90 days.
Christopher Nechvatal, 32 years of Cambridge was released to appear before the court in March.
Classroom fight leads to charges
At approximately 1pm on February 7th, police were called to Conestoga College to investigate an altercation that occurred between two students while they were participating in the same class. As a result of the altercation, one of the involved men received some minor injuries.
The investigation resulted in the arrest of Jaspreet Singh of Brampton and Gurshaan Pahagura of Cambridge. The two 20 year-old men are both charged with assault with a weapon and were released to appear before the court in March.
Phone thief identified on video
On the morning of February 7th, a customer went into a Wyndham Street business and shortly after leaving the store, realized that he had left this phone inside. Unfortunately when he went right back into the store, the phone had already been taken. Internal video was viewed by police and the suspect was quickly recognized as a man currently wanted for an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with probation. Later in the day at approximately 12:35pm, the man in question was seen in the downtown core and arrested by police. The phone was recovered while searching the male during his arrest.
Charged with fail to comply with probation and theft is 21 year-old Alex Santos of Guelph who was released to appear before the court on March 24, 2017.
