Guelph Police Daily News Release – 07April2017

On April 6th just before 9pm, police were investigating an unrelated incident at a Conroy Crescent building when a black Cadillac, driven by a man believed to be prohibited from driving, turned into the parking lot there. The man was approached by police as he exited the car and further investigation confirmed that he was in fact prohibited from driving as a result of a previous criminal conviction.

The 20 year old Guelph man was arrested and after a search, he was also found in possession of identity documents that did not belong to him. He was charged with suspended driving, driving while disqualified, breach of probation and three counts of possessing identity documents. He was held in custody to appear in bail court today.

Weapons possession

Just after 9pm on April 6th, police observed a man riding a bicycle in the area of Norfolk Street that was known to be wanted on an arrest warrant for breaching conditions of his probation. The male was stopped and arrested for that warrant and when he was searched, he was found to have a can of bear spray, a knife and BB gun in his possession. As a result of possessing those weapons, the male was charged with an additional three counts of breach of probation and was held in custody to appear in bail court today.

Suspects returns to store and arrested

At approximately 12:20pm, staff at an LCBO store called police to report a male that had just come into the store and stole some alcohol. While police were still in the area, the same male came back into the store and took another bottle of alcohol and was arrested by police as he exited the store. As he was being arrested, he threatened to kill the arresting officer. The first bottle of alcohol, now partially consumed, was also found in his possession.

The 23 year old man with a Stratford address was charged with two counts of theft, possession of stolen property and utter death threats. He was held in custody to appear in bail court today.
