Guelph Police Daily News Release – 06Oct2016

On October 5, 2016, the Guelph Police went to the area of Dominion Drive for the report of a suspicious male. It is alleged that at approximately 3:15 p.m., a male youth was riding his bicycle when a man on a motorcycle approached and asked him if he wanted a ride. The boy quickly ran home. The male is described as wearing a black helmet with dark visor and a black leather jacket. The motorcycle was red and is possibly a cruiser style bike.

Baby formula stolen

On October 5, 2016, the Guelph Police went to a grocery store located on Stone Road West to investigate a reported shoplifting incident. At approximately 8:00 a.m., two females entered the store together. It is alleged that one of them distracted staff while the other walked out with a large quantity of baby formula, valued at over $4,000. The two were viewed on video loading the formula into a black four door sedan.

Attempt home entry?

On October 6, 2016 at 1:38 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a York Road residence for the report of a male banging on the door and trying to get in. When the motion light turned on the person fled on foot. The individual is described as wearing a dark hoody with dark pants and white running shoes. They were last seen running south on Hayes Avenue. No damage is reported.

Theft from cars

On October 5, 2016 the Guelph Police received five reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Thornhill Drive, Tiffany Street, Vancouver Drive, Exhibition Street and Cavell Avenue.

This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible.
