Guelph Police Daily News Release – 03July2016

On July 2, 2016 at 11:35pm Guelph Police were notified by Wellington County O.P.P. that officers had attempted to pull over a vehicle that had been confirmed stolen and that vehicle had fled. The stolen vehicle, a black Toyota Prius, was reportedly heading into the city. Guelph Police officers were able to find the vehicle in the south end and further discovered the male had fled minutes before police arrived. The only description police had was that the responsible party is a male wearing all black, with a dark backpack. An exhaustive search was conducted in the area with no result.

Stolen Bicycles – Arrest

On July 3rd at 1:35am Guelph Police officers observed a male enter a backyard and ride away on a bicycle while pushing a second bicycle. Investigation revealed that these bicycles did not belong to him. Sahand Tabrizi, a 21 year old Guelph male, was arrested and charged with two counts of theft and two counts of possession of stolen property. He will appear in court on August 19, 2016.

Drug Arrest

On July 3rd, 2016 at 3:10am a Guelph Police officer observed a male riding on a bicycle on Woolwich. The officer recognized this male and knew that the male was breaching his order of recognizance. The male was arrested for such and a subsequent search revealed he was in possession of a controlled substance. The 51 year old Guelph male was charged with two counts of breaching his recognizance, two counts of breathing his probation order and one count of possessing a controlled substance. He was held for a bail hearing.

Break and enters

On July 2, 2016 the Guelph Police went to a Home Street residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered sometime overnight and stole baseball hats.

On July 2, 2016 the Guelph Police went to a Willow Road building to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered a storage room sometime overnight and stole three e-bikes. The only description given to police at this point is two of these e-bikes are black and one was red.

On July 2, 2016 the Guelph Police went to a Sultan Avenue residence to investigate a break and enter. The residents of the home watched the culprit(s) enter their backyard and flee with antique pottery and pots. No description of the suspect(s) was available at time of media release.
