(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A 30 year old driver that rolled his vehicle and left the collision scene has been charged with two Highway Traffic Act offences following an early morning collision on June 8, 2013. Just before 3:00 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a call from a passing motorist indicating there were pieces of a vehicle and a sign knocked down at the intersection of Sharpes Creek Line and Maitland Line. Officers arrived on scene and located a heavily damaged Chevrolet Silverado on the east side of Maitland Road. The driver had left the scene of the collision. Officers contacted the owner of the vehicle and he initially reported the vehicle must have been stolen. Officers began to search the area to locate potentially injured occupants of the vehicle. A short distance away on Disney Road, officers stopped a vehicle and checked on the occupants. Officers were able to determine one of the occupants was in fact the owner and as it turned out the driver of the Chevrolet Silverado. He sustained minor injuries from the collision.
As a result, Gregory TIESMA, 30, from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has been charged with Careless Driving and Fail to Report an Accident contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
