(Bluewater, ON) On September 25, 2010 at approximately 9:00 pm a vehicle was being operated southbound on Euphemia Street in Bayfield when the driver lost control, struck a stop sign, crossed over a second street and impacted two trees located on the south side of Fry Street at Euphemia. A witness on a bicycle attended at the scene in time to observe the driver slowly leaving the scene in his vehicle. The witness followed the vehicle on his bike and once the driver parked at his residence, the witness called police. The driver remained in his vehicle until police arrived.
Upon speaking to the driver, the Huron OPP officer formed the grounds to believe that the driver had alcohol in his system and so the demand was read for the driver to provide a roadside sample of his breath. The driver complied and failed the test. He was then arrested and taken to the Huron OPP Detachment where he met with a qualified Intoxilizer Technician to provide two more samples of his breath. The results confirmed that the driver had a blood alcohol level that was over the legal limit of 80 milligrams.
As a result of the investigation, Graham WALLACE (26) of Bluewater had been charged with one count of Drive With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol, Careless Driving and Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident. He will answer to his charge in the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on October 18, 2010. LP10261290
