(CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On December 13, 2012 at about 1:55am the County of Wellington Festive RIDE Team was conducting a R.I.D.E. spot check at Highway 6 south, and College Ave west, just outside of Guelph. As police spoke to the driver of a GMC Canyon pickup truck that entered the spot check, they detected an odour of alcohol coming from him. A Roadside Screening Device test was administered which resulted in a reading of .03mgs. Further investigation revealed the driver was a G2 licence holder.
G1 and G2 drivers are prohibited from having alcohol in their system while operating a motor vehicle.
Graham Illsley, age 23 of Guelph has been charged with Novice Driver Operate Motor Vehicle with Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) Above Zero, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. His driver’s licence was suspended for 24 hours as well.
