Gorrie Cyclist Hit By Garbage Truck Airlifted To Hospital – Harriston Road Closed

(HOWICK, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers along with members from the West Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Team (TTCI) are currently on scene of a crash that took place earlier this morning just north of the Village of Fordwich.

At approximately 10:00 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Wellington County Paramedic Services and Howick Fire Department personnel responded to a collision located on Harriston Road (County Road #87) one kilometre east of Fordwich line.

Investigators have determined a garbage truck was travelling eastbound on Harriston Road when it collided with a bicyclist that was also travelling eastbound. The bicyclist was thrown off the roadway into the ditch.

The cyclist, a 29-year-old female from Gorrie was transported to hospital by air ambulance. She remains in hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
