(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A 63 year old driver from Central Huron will be facing a court date and an automatic 90 Day driver’s licence suspension after he failed a roadside screening test this past weekend. At approximately 8:30 p.m. on December 19, 2014 the driver of a Dodge Ram pickup truck entered a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) checkpoint located at the intersection of Huron Road and Orchard Line.
Upon speaking with the driver police noted the male had been drinking alcohol. A roadside screening test was completed and the driver registered a fail. He was arrested and subsequently transported to the Huron OPP detachment for breath tests. He provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both samples registered over the legal limit.
As a result, 63 year old Gordon FERGUSON from Central Huron has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He has a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on February 2, 2015. He received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
