Guelph Police Traffic officers are continuing to investigate a collision on Silvercreek Pkwy North that sent a 25 year old Guelph mother and her 2 year old daughter to hospital on Wednesday afternoon. At 2:04 pm, a Jeep Cherokee was exiting the Food Basics plaza when it was struck by a White GMC pick-up truck, driven by a 34 year old Waterloo man. The child sitting in the back seat of the Jeep, properly restrained in her child car seat, was injured in the collision. She was immediately transported to the General Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. She remains there in stable condition. Her mother was also transported to hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries. The road was closed until approximately 8pm while traffic officers reconstructed the collision.
The family of the young girl and the Police would like to thank the many people who assisted at this collision to render first aid. They would also like to thank Victim Services, Centre Wellington Food Bank and Walmart for their support to the family after the collision. Two good Samaritans who had assisted with first aid at the scene subsequently showed up at the hospital and provided the family with new child car seats and groceries for the family.
