Good Samaritan Follows Drunk Driver Until Police Arrive

(Bradford, ON) On Friday, July 29, 2016, just after 3:15 a.m., a concerned citizen called South Simcoe Police, as he felt the driver of the car in front of him was drunk. The man followed the suspect and kept police aware of his location until officers could intercept and stop the vehicle. When officers spoke to the driver, they noted the smell of alcohol. The man was arrested and taken to the station for testing. A 32 year old Innisfil man has been held in custody for a bail hearing on charges of Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 mgs. His car was impounded and his driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days.

The South Simcoe Police applaud the actions of the citizen who called to report this impaired driver. The use of a cell phone while driving is allowed, if you use it to call 9-1-1. If you see a possibly impaired driver, call 9-1-1 immediately. Safe Roads, Your Call.
