Goderich Man Woken And Arrested For Over 80 In Exeter

(EXETER, ON) – A 57-year-old driver from Goderich has been charged with Care & Control of a Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams after he was stopped by police last weekend in Exeter. At approximately 12:25 a.m. on May 8, 2016 a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a Lexus parked on Sanders Street West with the headlights on and the engine running. Police noticed the driver appeared to be sleeping in the driver’s seat so they proceeded to check on the condition of the driver.

Upon getting the driver’s attention and speaking with him the investigating officer noted the driver had been drinking alcohol. A roadside screening test was completed and the driver registered a fail. He was placed under arrest for Care & Control of a Motor Vehicle With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and was transported to the Exeter OPP Detachment for breath tests. He subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both of his samples registered over the legal limit.

As a result, 57-year-old Michael RIVETT from Goderich has been charged with Care & Control of a Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for June 30, 2016 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Exeter. He also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
