Goderich Male Facing Drunk Driving Charge – Name Released

(GODERICH, ON) – A 51-year-old from Goderich will have to attend court in November to face an Over 80 charge following a traffic stop that took place on October 14, 2016. At approximately 12:29 a.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer spotted the driver of a Jeep Grand Cherokee pull up to the intersection of South Street and Elgin Avenue. The officer noted one of the headlights was not working on the vehicle so he followed after the vehicle to conduct a traffic stop.

A few blocks away the driver pulled into a laneway located on Quebec Street. While speaking with the male driver the investigating officer noted the driver had alcohol on his breath. He was placed under arrest for Driving a Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. He subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both of his samples registered over the legal limit.

As a result, 51-year-old Christopher PLANT from Goderich has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for November 7, 2016 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
