(RIPLEY, ON) – On September 15th, 2011 at approximately 3:02 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attempted to stop a pick-up truck along Huron Street in Ripley, Ontario. The driver initially stopped and then fled at a high rate of speed. The pick up truck was located in a cornfield along Concession 10, Huron Township and the driver had fled on foot.
Members of OPP West Region Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team, Canine and Aviation Services were called to assist with the search. The suspect was not located and the South Bruce OPP is continuing their investigation into this case.
On September 17th, 2011 at 8:37 am, the South Bruce OPP received a report of a suspicious male along Sideroad 5 in Huron Township. Officers arrived to find the male had run into the bush area. Members of the West Region Canine Unit and the West Region Emergency Response Team were called in to assist with the search. 23 year old Glenn O’NEILL of Ashfield Colborne Wawanosh was arrested and charged with Possess stolen property (2 counts), Mischief under $5,000 (2 counts), Breach probation (2 counts), Flight from police, Dangerous driving, Theft over $5,000 and Uttering counterfeit money. He has been held in custody pending the results of a show cause hearing. The investigation is continuing, anyone with information that can assist police is asked to call the South Bruce OPP or Crime Stoppers.
