(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – Today, shortly after 8:00 a.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Centre Wellington Fire and Rescue responded to a report of a gas leak on West Mill Street at Metcalfe Street in Elora, Centre Wellington Township.
Initial reports indicated that a gas line was severed by construction workers in that area. As a precaution approximately 20 residents were evacuated from their residences while the gas line was repaired by Union Gas employees.
Traffic was diverted temporarily and all roads have since re-opened.
No injuries were reported to police.
