Gary Brandon – Drunk Driving – Saw Police Lights and Drove Into Snowbank

(GODERICH, ON) – On February 6, 2011 at approximately 11:00 pm a Huron OPP officer was patrolling in Goderich when he observed a pickup truck fail to stop for a stop sign and demonstrate some erratic driving. The officer initiated a traffic stop by turning on the emergency lights and the driver attempted to make a turn but struck a snow bank and got stuck. While speaking to the driver, the officer immediately observed signs of impairment by alcohol with the driver. After speaking to the driver for a short time, the officer arrested the man for Impaired Driving.

The driver was taken to the Huron OPP Detachment where he met with a qualified Intoxilizer Technician to provide two samples of his breath. The tests were completed and the results indicated a blood alcohol level approaching three times the legal limit of 80 milligrams.

As a result of the traffic stop, Gary BRANDON (56) of Bayfield has been charged with one count of Impaired Driving and one count of Drive With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He will answer to his charges in the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on March 21, 2011. His licence has been suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days.
