Stratford ̶ This past summer, residents and visitors to Stratford were treated to free sunscreen through dispensers located at high-foot traffic areas around Stratford. The goal was to provide free and easily accessible sunscreen for people to use as a preventive measure against UV radiation. The Health Unit partnered with the City of Stratford and Stratford Tourism Alliance for the project.
“We are thrilled to report that over 27 litres of sunscreen were used over the summer, which is approximately 4,500 applications of sunscreen,” reports Karen Bergin-Payette, Public Health Nurse. “It’s wonderful to think of all the people that were able to protect their skin from the sun while enjoying leisure and recreational activities outside.”
Twelve sunscreen dispensers were installed at 8 different locations around Stratford:Sunscreen Dispenser

Stratford Tourism Visitors Centre on York Street
Paddle Boat Rentals
The Local Community Food Centre.
Sunscreen use was highest at the Anne Hathaway Splash Pad, Allman Arena, Upper Queens Park, and YMCA.
“The next step of this project is to look at expanding it to other locations throughout Perth County,” says Bergin-Payette.
