Yesterday, a woman contacted police to report that an unknown person had gained access to her personal computer. The woman was denied access to her computer however could see the person remotely controlling her computer and opening files. A short time later, the woman began receiving long distance telephone calls from a man claiming to be from an anti-hacking company. The man knew that her computer had been compromised and stated that he could help remove the virus for a one-time fee of $250. The man asked the woman for her credit card number or gave her the option of using Western Union. The woman did not accept his offer.
