Recently, a resident of Chatham-Kent reported that they had been the victim of a suspicious phone call. The male caller advised the resident that they had won a lottery and needed to confirm personal information in order to deliver their cash prize. The resident realized the offer was too good to be true and hung up the phone.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service reminds everyone that these ‘prize pitch’ calls are one of the most common scam types. Should you receive a similar call, obtain as much information as you can from the caller and report the incident to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre http://www.antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca/english/index.html
