On Friday January 10, 2014 a Cambridge resident was contacted via telephone and advised that they had won a prize from the Princess Margaret Lottery. The caller requested the resident meet at a public location with a large sum of money to obtain further information on how to claim the prize. The resident refused to comply with the request. Police were contacted and are investigating. Police would also like to remind the community legitimate lotteries would not make similar requests before awarding prizes. Anyone receiving suspicious-sounding phone calls should refuse to turn over any personal or financial information and report the incident with as much detail as possible to police.
