Fraud And Money Laundering At St. Leonard’s Community Service – William (Bill) Sanderson Arrested

Incident: The Hamilton Police Service Major Fraud Unit and the Brantford Police Service Criminal Investigation Section initiated a Joint Service investigation into spending irregularities by an employee of St. Leonard’s Community Services in Brantford. St. Leonard’s Community Services is an organization in Brantford that provides addiction, mental health and justice programs.

In February 2015, the Brantford Police Service was advised of financial concerns after an internal financial review was conducted by St. Leonard’s Community Services (SLCS). The Brantford Police Chief reached out to Hamilton Police to lead the investigation. The joint investigative team investigated the matter and has concluded a year-long investigation into financial irregularities.

Being a publicly funded entity, the Board of Directors and current Executive Director of St Leonard’s in Brantford, wished to ensure the proper accountability of all public funds and the Agency has provided their full cooperation throughout this investigation.

On 8 June 2016, a 63yr old William (Bill) Sanderson was arrested and charged with Theft by Conversion, Fraud Over $5,000, Use Forged Documents, Fraud Over $5,000 x 4, Fraud Under $5,000 x 4, Laundering Proceeds of Crime. Due to a Section 517 Publication ban imposed by the Justice of the Peace, no further information will be provided.
