(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is reminding all residents to keep their guard up because the scammers are still hard at work trying to separate you from your hard earned money.
On June 28, 2012 at 10:25 am, the South Bruce OPP received a report of a fraud attempt from a resident of Arran-Elderslie Township. The caller claimed to be a grandson that was involved in a motor vehicle crash. The call was identified as a scam and no money was sent.
On June 23, 2012 at 3:46 pm, the South Bruce OPP received a report of a fraud attempt from a resident of Huron-Kinloss Township. The caller claimed to be an employee from E Solving and wanted to fix a computer error for a “small feeâ€Â. This call was also identified as a scam and no money was sent.
Neither of these attempts was successful, but the fact that the scams continue proves that they are still making money. Be cautious each time you open a letter, answer the phone, read an email or hear a knock on your front door. There are lots of clever schemes and smooth talking scammers; the South Bruce OPP is asking you “don’t pay the con artistâ€Â. Anyone interested in more information on fraud can contact the Canadian Anti Fraud Centre at 1 888 495 8501 or check online at http://www.antifraudcentre.ca/.
