(WALKERTON, ON) – On January 9, 2014 at 3:17 pm, South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were called to a disturbance at the Walkerton Court House located along Cayley Street in Walkerton. Officers arrived to find a male prisoner hollering and refusing to comply with court staff instructions.
South Bruce OPP officers were tasked with removing the man from the court room. A brief struggle ensued, during which pepper spray was used to gain control of the uncooperative male. Two officers were treated at hospital, and released, for injuries they received during the incident.
22 year old Francis DUCHENE of Arran-Elderslie Township has been charged with Assault cause bodily harm, Assault, 2 counts of Utter threats and 3 counts of Fail to comply with probation. He is currently in custody pending the results of a bail hearing.
