Four RIDE Programs, One Drunk, One Buzzed

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) During the weekend (April 20 – 22), Perth County OPP officers conducted four organized R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere) programs throughout the County.

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) On Saturday morning April 21st at 12:30 a.m., an OPP officer on patrol stopped a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck on Perth Line 20 west of Hwy. 7. The officer spoke to the driver and the odour of an alcoholic beverage was noticed on his breath. The driver failed a roadside breath test and was transported to the Perth County OPP Detachment in Sebringville where he failed two Intoxilyzer breath tests.

Gregory Player (23) of the Township of Perth South has been charged with “operation of a motor vehicle with over 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood”. He is scheduled to appear in Stratford Court on June 04, 2012 to answer to this charge. He was also issued a 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) Perth County OPP officers conducted a traffic stop in Gads Hill on Saturday morning April 21, 2012 around 1:30 a.m. The odour of alcoholic beverages was detected on the breath of the 23 year old male driver from Kitchener. The driver registered a blood alcohol concentration from .05 to .08 (the old “warn” range) on the roadside screening device. This resulted in him losing his licence for 3 days, and since no one could drive his vehicle away it was towed from the scene.
