On the evening of Wednesday, June 15 th Owen Sound Police Service uniform bureau officers were dispatched to a 2 nd Avenue East residence after a caller advised there was a scorpion in her apartment. As officers arrived the occupant managed to capture the animal in a plastic tub.
Police investigation revealed that a neighbour had rescued the scorpion from an acquaintance over the weekend, after believing the animal was being mistreated. The scorpion’s enclosure was believed to be escape-proof.

According to Wikipedia, the Emperor Scorpion is a popular pet trade species whose stings range from mild and relatively harmless, like a bee sting, to severe in cases where persons are allergic to the venom.
